Debra Greene-Davis was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting of her granddaughter, 31-year-old Larkeya Elliott, at her home in Buckeye, Arizona Sunday, according to court documents, reports The Arizona Republic.

Authorities say Greene-Davis, 71, was sitting in her bedroom Sunday afternoon when she heard her daughter and granddaughter start fighting in the living room, the documents stated. She called 911, and when she was on the phone, Elliott came into her room and tried to take the phone from her, punching her in the head and shoulder.

Greene-Davis' daughter pulled Elliott away from her grandmother by the hair, and the two began fighting near the foot of the bed. That's when Greene-Davis pulled out a 9mm handgun and fired it, striking her granddaughter in the back.

During a police interview, Greene-Davis "admitted to knowingly and intentionally shooting the victim with her handgun," court documents detailed.
