Iranian airlines have canceled all flights to Syria until January 22, as air traffic between the two countries is not agreed yet with the new authorities in Damascus, said the head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, Hossein Pourfarzaneh.

"Currently, flights to Syria will not be allowed until January 22, after the New Year holidays, but there are no restrictions regarding Lebanon," Pourfarzaneh said, ISNA reports.

“In order to fly to a country, the destination country must grant entry and admission permits,” said the head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization.

The same is the case with Egypt, he added.

"The authorities of the two countries need to reach a common conclusion that we were able to carry out flights from Iran to Egypt and in the opposite direction," Pourfarzaneh said.
