A plane flying from Azerbaijani capital Baku to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, Russia has crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan, the latter’s emergency services inform.

The plane belonged to Azerbaijan Airlines.

Before crashing, it had requested an emergency landing.

The crew and equipment of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations have been dispatched to the crash site.

The plane was on fire, and the rescue units started to extinguish the fire.

Information about the victims is currently being verified; it was informed earlier that there were survivors.
