Azerbaijan has given Armenia time to take the body of Vera Aghasyan, the Armenian elderly woman who died a few months ago in Stepanakert, the capital of Azerbaijani-occupied Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

In particular, according to the Azerbaijani media, the Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons informed that if Armenia does not take the body of Aghasyan (born in 1954)—who had remained in Stepanakert after the forcible de-Armenianization of Artsakh and died a few months ago—by the end of January 2025, then they will bury her in the territory of Azerbaijan.

In an interview with Pastinfo, the delegation of the ICRC in Armenia refrained from confirming or denying this information, and noted that they cannot say anything on behalf of the authorities. Also, they emphasized that, as they had said earlier, they are ready to assist if this matter is resolved.

The death of Vera Aghasyan, 70, became known on October 23. Azerbaijani media reported that according to preliminary data, she had died of acute cardiovascular failure and pulmonary artery thrombosis.

The elderly woman had died on October 20, according to Azerbaijani media.
