The Main Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry in Moscow has warned that the passage to Red Square will be closed on New Year's Eve, reports “Kommersant”.

Restrictions will start from 18:00 on December 31 and will last until 08:00 on January 1, 2025. At the same time GUM skating rink will work in accordance with the schedule.

The square is closed annually. The skating rink on the festive night will work from 22:00 on December 31 to 02:00, follows from the schedule on the GUM skating rink website.

Also in Moscow this year will not launch New Year's fireworks, said the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin. The city authorities have made such a decision for the third year in a row.
