Azerbaijani media have distorted the statement by Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Iran, linking his words about the problem with Iranian trucks in Turkey to the so-called "Zangezur corridor."

Citing the statement by the Iran MFA spokesperson, ISNA news agency reports that the statement refers to the issue of fuel for Iranian trucks on the border with Turkey.

"Our and Turkey's efforts were to try to somehow solve this problem by remembering the neighborhood and taking into account that the issue of cargo transportation by routes is important for both countries. Probably, in the near future, a delegation from our side will go to Turkey to discuss the issue in detail in the presence of the representatives of the relevant structures. We hope that the issue will be resolved soon," Baghaei said during the press briefing.

However, some Azerbaijani media distorted his words and presented this statement as if it was about the so-called "Zangezur corridor."

During the same briefing, the Iranian MFA spox, reflected also on the possible unblocking of communication channels in the South Caucasus, and confirmed Tehran's position on this matter.

"Iran's position remains unchanged. We welcome the expansion of cooperation in the domain of transport, but we emphasize that the sovereign rights of countries should be respected," said the Iran MFA spokesperson.
