There is no question of revising the agreement on the presence of the Russian military base on the agenda, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at his press conference Wednesday recapping the results of 2024.

Answering Armenian News-NEWS.am's question as to whether it is planned to reduce the presence of Russian border guards on Armenia’s border with Turkey and the possibility of revising the agreement on the presence of the Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia, the FM said that there is no question of revising the agreement on the presence of the Russian military base.

When asked about the Russian border guards in Armenia, Mirzoyan recalled that they were temporarily stationed and provided services until Armenia itself was able to form its own respective agencies and perform the necessary work on its own.

"At some point, we thanked the Russian border guards and said that we can provide the work at the [Yerevan international] airport ourselves," FM recalled.

He added that subsequently, "we took over the checkpoint on the Iranian border." According to the FM, this speaks of Armenia’s capabilities on the one hand, and the high level of trust with Iran on the other hand.

"If there will be an open border and trust with Turkey, we can discuss this matter," concluded Mirzoyan.
