Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan has called not to give in to Azerbaijani provocations.

At his press conference Wednesday, many questions were asked also about the Azerbaijani president’s statements Tuesday. One of these questions was how the FM assesses Baku's statements about "Armenian fascism."

"How should we treat such statements? There is a great temptation to react immediately and publicly present undeniable facts and statements that the fascist attitude towards Armenians is encouraged in Azerbaijan. But I will refrain and propose to assess why such statements are made. Or maybe they just want to hear counter-statements, etc., up to real shootings and escalation [of tension]. I don't think this is the best way. We need strong nerves and not deviate from the peace agenda," the Armenian FM said.

Mirzoyan confirmed his policy of peace with all neighbors and his willingness to continue the peace agenda without giving in to provocations.

"It is impossible to build peace alone, but we can continue constructive work towards achieving peace," the Armenian FM said.

He noted that Armenia works with international partners and believes that the vast majority of them have a sufficient understanding of the current phase of negotiations and whether or not the parties are constructive.
