Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian said at a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Armen Grigoryan in Yerevan that his country is ready to promote the development of political, security and economic relations between the countries of the region, Mehr reports.

During the meeting, Ahmadian expressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to promote the development of political, security and economic relations between the countries of the region.

Explaining the regional policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the senior Iranian security official emphasized the country's principled policy towards any geopolitical changes in the region. Bilateral relations are based on a solid foundation and nothing can undermine or change it, Ahmadian emphasized.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the trend of political, security and economic relations between the two countries. During the meeting the sides exchanged views on regional issues and emphasized the necessity of establishing peace and stability in the Caucasus region.

In his turn, the Secretary of the RA Security Council welcomed the visit of his Iranian counterpart to Armenia and emphasized the importance of high-level reciprocal visits, based on the necessity of the development of bilateral relations covering different spheres. Armen Grigoryan expressed his country's desire to expand Armenia's presence and participation in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), as well as to take advantage of the strategic opportunities of Chabahar Port.

Both officials expressed satisfaction with the development of ties between Armenia and Iran, discussed the implementation of the previously reached agreements and outlined new directions of cooperation, Iranian media reported.
