The wildfires are in the neighborhoods of Pasadena where the most Armenians live; the Armenian community suffered great losses as a result of them. Pastor Hovhannes Halladjian of the Armenian Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena, California said this in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am Friday.

He noted that two days ago, the Sahag-Mesrob Armenian Christian School, where the children studied Armenian language, history, and religion, was also burned down.

"We have other Armenian schools, too. Today I learned that they temporarily have opened their doors to the students of the Sahag-Mesrob school until the traces of the fire damage disappear," added Halladjian.

According to him, the evacuated Armenians have temporarily settled in hotels and in the houses of their relatives in nearby cities.

The situation in Glendale, California is calmer. Although the wildfires have approached the city, there are no fires there, and there is only smoke. The mayor of Glendale, Elen Asatryan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that this morning they issued a statement that the residents who are temporarily in the support center can return to their homes.

"We closed the doors of the support center at 12 o'clock; at this moment there is no longer any need for it. There was no fire in Glendale, I hope that we will be safe in the near future as well," added Asatryan.

According to her, despite this, the danger is not over until the wildfires are completely put out.

"Of course, this is not the end. We have received word that the winds may get stronger in the coming days. As a city, we are ready for it. We have told the people to prepare their bags with basic necessities," said the mayor of Glendale.
