There are no Armenian citizens among the dead as a result of forest fires in California. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan told Sputnik Armenia.

“The Armenian Consulate General is in constant contact with local authorities and community structures,” Badalyan noted.

The death toll due to wildfires in the US has reached 11. The damage caused to the property as a result of the fires is enormous. According to the estimates of independent organizations, it probably reaches about $150 billion. More than 10 thousand buildings, including schools and churches, have burned down. Evacuations have been announced for more than 180,000 people.

The fires also reached the cities inhabited by a large number of Armenians, representatives of the Armenian community also suffered losses, the Sahak-Mesrop Gymnasium was completely burned down.
