The 6.2 percent decrease in the number of tourists visiting Armenia in January-September 2024 is mainly due to the drop in the number of tourists from Russia. Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan stated this during the debates on the report on the implementation of the first nine months of last year’s state budget of Armenia at Monday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly.

The aforesaid drop in tourist flow from Russia to Armenia was 20 percent, Hovhannisyan said.

The finance minister added, however, that the number of tourists visiting Armenia from other countries had increased by approximately 8 percent in the first nine months of 2024.

"The visits of tourists from Georgia, India, China, Iran, and [South] Korea have greatly contributed to this," explained Hovhannisyan.
