The number of those who have died as a result of poisoning from fake alcohol in Istanbul has reached 30 in the last three days, and 31 others are still in the intensive care units, reports A Haber television.

A total of 83 people who were diagnosed with methanol poisoning sought medical help. Four have been discharged, 31 are in the intensive care units, and 18 others are being treated in regular hospitals.

Earlier, it was reported that 23 people had died as a result of poisoning from fake alcohol in an Istanbul district where mainly people from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan live. According to the consulate general of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, 10 Uzbek citizens have died as a result of consuming fake alcohol.

According to the Governorship of Istanbul, six people have been detained in connection with this incident. Two of them are Turkmen citizens and were arrested on charges of "deliberate murder attempt."
