Norayr Norikyan, the lawyer and representative of the legal successors of the casualties of the terrible fire in Azat village of Armenia, on Monday presented the results of the respective investigation and trial.
To note, Sunday was the second anniversary of this tragedy, during which 15 Armenian servicemen had died during a fire in the aforesaid village.
Norikyan paid special attention to defendant Yeghishe Hakobyan. According to him, state officials have never ruled out the theory of sabotage.
"Furthermore, on August 31, I sent a request to the director of the NSS [i.e. the National Security Service] why steps were not taken within the framework of the investigation to find out the possible connection between Yeghishe Hakobyan and the special services of Azerbaijan and his receiving the task of starting a fire. Yeghishe Hakobyan has warm personal relations with a citizen of another country, Israel, living in Yerevan. We asked the NSS to find out his possible connections. In the response, it was noted that the NSS has taken note of the request, and the circumstances will be taken into account," said Norikyan.
