Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov is happy with the results of the meeting with his visiting Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan.

At Tuesday’s press conference following this meeting in Moscow, Russian FM stated that the entire range of issues was discussed in detail, which is especially important because it had not been possible to discuss it in such detail for a long time.

The talks were held at the initiative and agreement of the leaders of the two countries, and continuing the mutual understandings that were reached within the framework of contacts between the leaders of the two countries.

The Russian FM stressed his loyalty to the entire range of agreements, including in the politico-military sphere, on a bilateral basis and within the framework of general integration associations.

Sergey Lavrov noted the rhythmic work of bilateral mechanisms, including the holding of the 38th meeting of the interparliamentary commission and the 23rd meeting of the intergovernmental commission of Armenia and Russia. Also, the parties agreed to prepare the next two-year plan for the consultations between their foreign ministries.

Then the parties discussed the prospects of expanding their mutual consular presence, including Russia's consular presence in Syunik, a strategically important province of Armenia, which is in the interests of the two parties.

The importance of the South Caucasus in promoting security objectives in the Eurasian continent was discussed as well.

Among the issues of humanitarian cooperation, the situation related to the Russian language in Armenia was discussed, and both parties expressed interest in resuming the holding of Armenian Cultural Days in Russia.

According to Sergey Lavrov, the positions of the two parties on international matters coincide or are close. Also, the Russian FM noted the parties' interest in the 3+3 format, which Russia considers very promising.
