The Azerbaijani authorities are trying to deceive the international community by playing the game of “open trial” at the falsified trial of the former leaders of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
Today the second court session on this “case” took place. Formally, the accused have been provided with lawyers and interpreters, and formally, the lawyers are even allowed to submit motions. Some of the lawyers today submitted motions to replace the arrest with house arrest, which was objected to by the prosecution and “victims."
In fact, the victims in the “case” are more than 531 thousand people. These are “refugees” Azerbaijanis from seven districts adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh, who left Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the conflict unleashed by Azerbaijan. It should be recalled that for three decades the Azerbaijani authorities have been talking about “one million” refugees.
The prosecution in court is supported by six prosecutors.
There are 15 persons as defendants, including former NKR presidents Arkady Arshavirovich Ghukasyan, Araik Vladimirovich Harutyunyan, Bako Sahakovich Sahakyan, former NA Speaker David Rubenovich Ishkhanyan, former Foreign Minister David Klimovich Babayan, former Defense Minister Levon Henrikhovich Mnatsakanyan, former Deputy Minister of Defense David Azatovich Manukyan, Garik Grigorievich Martirosyan, Melikset Vladimirovich Pashayan, David Nelsonovich Allahverdyan, Gurgen Gomerovich Stepanyan, Levon Romikovich Balayan, Madat Arakelovich Babayan, Vasily Ivanovich Beglaryan and Eric Robertovich Ghazaryan.
Sessions are held in the Baku Military Court under the chairmanship of Judge Zeynal Aghayev.
