The UK government has called on its citizens not to travel to the border regions of Armenia due to the ongoing tension in relations with Azerbaijan.
The respective foreign travel advice states that the Armenian-Azerbaijani border remains closed. It is recommended to avoid “all travel to within 5km of the entire eastern border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.” It is due to the conflict between the two countries, and consular assistance in those regions is very limited.
Also, the UK authorities consider the road between Ijevan and Noyemberyan towns in Tavush Province of Armenia to be dangerous for travel.
It is noted as well that the Armenian-Turkish border remains closed despite the direct flights between Yerevan and Istanbul.
