Russian President Vladimir Putin has noted a timeframe for the end of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, noting that it could end in one and a half to two months if Ukraine’s backing money and ammunition run out, reports Argumenty i Fakty newspaper.

“They [i.e. Ukraine] won’t survive a month if the money runs out, and in a broader sense, the ammunition. Everything will end in a month, in one and a half to two months,” Putin said on the air of a Russian television program.

Also, he stressed that in the current situation, Ukraine's sovereignty has been "almost reduced to zero."

The Russian president said that signing a peace agreement with Ukraine at this phase would be illegal, since the country's leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is "an illegitimate president and cannot cancel the decree banning any negotiations with Russia," Vedomosti daily reports.

Putin said that since the presidential elections in Ukraine were not held in accordance with the law, Zelenskyy is not the country's president. According to the Russian president, this is enshrined in Ukraine's constitution.

"According to the constitution of Ukraine, the president does not have the right to extend his powers even in conditions of martial law," Putin said.

At the same time, negotiations can be "conducted with anyone," but "due to his illegitimacy, Zelenskyy has no right to sign anything."

"The term of office of the president of Ukraine is five years, nothing more. Then his powers are transferred to the president of the [Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna] Rada," the Russian president said.

According to him, if Ukraine wants to cancel the decree banning negotiations with Russia, it will find a legal way to do it.

“The president of the [Verkhovna] Rada can do this,” added Putin. Otherwise, the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will be illegal.

The Russian president noted that he does not see any initiative from Ukraine.
