The annual reports on the European Union (EU) Common Foreign and Security Policy and the EU Common Security and Defence Policy have been put to a vote at the Committee on Foreign Affairs  of the European Parliament, Armenpress reports.

Both reports address Armenia-EU relations, record and welcome the momentum in bilateral relations. The reports also welcome the assistance provided to Armenia by the EU European Peace Facility, and highlight the role of the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia. The members of European Parliament (MEPs) welcome also Armenia’s decision to suspend work in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and recall the need for the immediate release of 23 Armenian hostages and prisoners of war being illegally held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The aforesaid annual reports attach importance also to the return of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Armenians to their homes. The reports welcome the efforts of Armenia and Azerbaijan to normalize their relations, and recall that the normalization of relations and border delimitation should be carried out in line with the Alma-Ata Declaration.

In the reports put to the vote, the MEPs demand that the EU terminate the energy cooperation memorandum with Azerbaijan, and call on EU member states to stop providing technical, security, and financial assistance to Azerbaijan.

The reports will be put to a vote at one of the upcoming plenary sessions of the European Parliament.
