US President Donald Trump's concerns about Iran's possession of nuclear weapons are unfounded, and Iran is committed to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said.

"If the main issue is that Iran not have nuclear weapons, then there is no problem. Iran's position is very clear. Tehran is committed to the NPT, and the fatwa of the Supreme Leader [of Iran] is in effect, which has decided everything," the Iranian FM said on SNN television.

"The maximum pressure [on Iran] was a bad attempt, and attempting again will lead to another failure," Araghchi said, commenting on Trump's signing of an executive to restore Washington's maximum pressure on Tehran.
