Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Hakan Fidan discussed the situation around the Middle East and Ukraine during a telephone conversation on February 6, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

“A number of issues on the bilateral agenda were touched upon. The importance of tight coordination of steps, including in the interdepartmental format, to implement the agreements of Russian President Vladimir V. Putin and Turkish President R. T. Erdogan was confirmed,” the report says.

It is emphasized that the situation in Syria and around it was discussed as a follow-up to previous contacts between the presidents and ministers. It was agreed to remain in close contact on topical bilateral, regional and international topics, including the Middle East and Ukraine.

The foreign ministers also reviewed the schedule of upcoming contacts, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
