Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin has confirmed the Russian side's determination to assist in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the diplomat, Moscow pays priority attention to regional security matters on the agenda of the Armenian-Russian bilateral dialogue.

"Russia is full of determination to provide all necessary assistance for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in all domains of development of the trilateral agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in 2020-2022, including the matters of development of balanced and mutually acceptable provisions of a peace treaty, border delimitation and demarcation, and the opening of communication channels," Kopyrkin stated, speaking at a reception on the occasion of Diplomats' Day of the Russian Federation.

According to him, Russian-Armenian allied relations are adapting to new realities in the region and the world, but the key element remains the conviction of both sides that a close strategic partnership meets the fundamental interests of the two countries and fraternal peoples. Kopyrkin noted that this position was confirmed by the talks between the foreign ministers of Russia and Armenia, Sergey Lavrov and Ararat Mirzoyan, held in Moscow on January 21.

He added that Russian-Armenian trade and economic relations are developing, and Russia firmly maintains its place as Armenia's main foreign trade and investment partner.

"An important component of our relations remains cultural and humanitarian ties, cooperation in the field of education, and interpersonal contacts, in which compatriot organizations play a major role," said the Russian ambassador to Armenia.
