Armenian economy minister Gevorg Papoyan on Thursday received US Ambassador Kristina Kvien, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.

At the beginning of the talk, the minister briefly presented the vision of the Armenian government in the economic sphere—and which is based on innovation, stability, and accessibility to global markets.

“Currently, we [i.e. Armenia] are taking steps to diversify exports, comply with international standards, and attract foreign investments. And, in this context, we attach importance to the invaluable role of partners such as the United States in achieving these goals,” Papoyan noted.

Then, the interlocutors discussed the prospects for economic cooperation between Armenia and the US, as well as export diversification, mining, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and ensuring food security.

Stressing the interest of the Armenian side in the American market and emphasizing the importance of increasing the recognition and promotion of Armenian wines there, Gevorg Papoyan proposed considering the possibility of organizing a visit to Armenia by American journalists and influencers.

Separate attention was paid to the favorable business environment in Armenia and the broad investment opportunities available in the country’s economic sector.

The parties exchanged views also on the progress of joint programs, and considered the possibilities of expanding cooperation in various domains of the economy.
