Kyiv will not recognize the results of negotiations between the United States and Russia on ending the Ukrainian war if they take place without the participation of the Ukrainian side, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, Reuters reports.

"Today it is important that events do not develop according to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's plan, who wants to do everything to make the negotiations bilateral; European countries should also be represented," the Ukrainian head of state added.

When reporters asked Zelenskyy how he felt about the fact that US President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation first with Vladimir Putin, and then with him, the Ukrainian president emphasized that Trump was aware of his position.

"I really think that Ukraine should be a priority. We are at war, while Putin is against us," Zelenskyy said.

According to him, Donald Trump expressed a wish to conduct a dialogue with both Ukraine and Russia at the same time.

“In the conversation, he did not say that Putin and Russia are a priority for him. Today we trust these words,” the Ukrainian president added.

Also, Zelenskyy stressed that maintaining the support of the US is extremely important for Ukraine.

“I do not take this appeal [to Putin] as a sign that Russia is a priority for Trump. Although, of course, it is unpleasant because all of us—the Ukrainian society, our European partners—expect that Ukraine should be in the first place. Nothing that concerns Ukraine can happen without Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
