I don't think that Russia is ready to forget everything, international relations don't happen like that, but one thing is changing dramatically: in recent years, the corridor of complementarity has narrowed a lot. This was stated by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, during his press conference Monday (PHOTOS).
"Now that corridor of complementarity will expand a little. In my opinion, we should not look at this process in black and white. If [US President Donald] Trump declares that it was a mistake to remove Russia from the G8, Russia should come back to that level of international relations; this means that completely new opportunities are opening up also for Armenia to conduct foreign policy. You don’t have to jump into pockets of the West or anyone else’s pocket; you can, as a partner, conduct the right policy with Russia and not become hostile to the West. That window is opening. But this administration of Armenia has already made itself hostile to Russia at that level, and has done everything to spread this attitude also to Russia as a country.
The perception of Russia in Armenia today is not good because we [i.e. Armenia] were making mistakes and trying to blame it on Russia. This will not go unnoticed,” Kocharyan stated.
According to him, the best option is that Armenia is not represented in future formats by these people who have “ruined everything.”
“If that happens, Armenia will not have the opportunity to properly express itself in the new world order," Kocharyan added.
