If you don’t fight, no one will fight in your stead. This was stated by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, during his press conference Monday.

According to him, no one said that Armenia turned to Russia bilaterally during the 44-day war in 2020. Moreover, the incumbent authorities of Armenia themselves have discredited the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and had launched criminal prosecution against this organization’s former Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov.

“The attitude towards the CSTO was unacceptable,” Kocharyan added.

Also, the second president of Armenia recalled the words of PM Nikol Pashinyan that he “will not fight for a mountain where there is snow for nine months.”

“If someone thinks that when a country itself does not want to fight for its land, someone will fight for it, this is not so. (…). By the way, there are huge territories in the Russian Federation where it snows for 12 months. What? Russia should give them up?

If you don’t fight, no one will fight in your stead. If the chief of General Staff [of the Armenian Armed Forces] says that [the enemy, i.e. Azerbaijan] will starve and leave [the Armenian territories it has occupied]... it’s a brilliant idea.

You can lose a war. But if you kneel, no one will help you, you are no longer a reliable partner. We [i.e. Armenians] have a problem that we think that everyone owes us, since we have survived the genocide and are obligated to help [us]. But international relations don’t work that way. If you don’t represent anything, no one helps you—at most, they will send humanitarian aid,” Robert Kocharyan said.
