The doors are open for Georgia in the “Three Plus Three” format, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov announced during parliamentary meeting with the government in the Russian State Duma, TASS reports.

“From the beginning, everyone agreed that we have the ‘Three Plus Three’ format, and that we understand the doubts and nuances related to Georgia’s position [in this regard],” Lavrov noted.

The Russian FM emphasized that the seat of Georgian representatives will always be in the meeting room of this format, writes Gazeta.ru.

The “Three Plus Three” format is a consultative cooperation format between the three countries of the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia) and their three neighbors (Russia, Turkey, and Iran).

This initiative for a six-party format of cooperation in the South Caucasus was put forward in late 2020 by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In January, Lavrov had stated that Russia considers the work of this consultative format with the participation of Armenia to be promising.
