Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he lauds the results of Tuesday’s Russian-US talks held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, TASS reports.

According to him, the expulsion of Russian and American diplomats from one another’s countries does not lead to anything good, and now the work of these diplomatic missions will resume.

The Russian president added that his country and the US have taken the first steps towards collaboration in the Middle East, including in Syria and Palestine.

Also, Putin noted that Russia is ready to return to the negotiating table on the issue of Ukraine.

"The Russian Federation has never refused dialogue with Europe or Ukraine. The Europeans themselves stopped contacts with Moscow, and Kiev even forbade from negotiating with Russia," Putin emphasized.

The Russian president said that it is not enough for them to simply meet with US President Donald Trump, and that they need to work out the most important issues, including those related to Ukraine.

Also, Putin said that he is not ready to say when his meeting with Trump might take place.

Trump pledged to quickly resolve the Ukrainian crisis. But after receiving information in his post as president, he changed his position, which is natural, the Russian president explained.
