The U.S. and Ukraine are nearing an agreement that would transfer mining rights to the United States, an agreement the Trump administration has sought as compensation for military aid for the war against Russia, people familiar with the matter said.

Ukraine refused to sign such an agreement earlier this week, sparking a war of words between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and fears of a breakdown in relations between Washington and Kyiv.

It has been noted that the agreement, which could be as early as today, could help resolve the tensions that have flared between Zelensky and Trump.
