There is a lot of progress in Armenia in terms of strategic thinking since 2020. Lithuanians have always supported Armenia and the Armenian people in their fights and struggles. A Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Rasa Juknevičienė stated this at the 4th Meeting of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee taking place today in Yerevan.

A people that has a very rich history, but at that moment it seemed that there was no light at the end of the tunnel. The wars between Armenia and Azerbaijan were used as a playing card in their hands. But now this transition and this strategic thinking, especially when it comes to neighborhood and positive attitude, is about more open cooperation with the EU, and the recent messages that Armenia wants to join the EU in the future is welcome, the MEP added.

All political efforts and political forces in Armenia need to have mutual agreement and understanding about the country’s strategic goals. The only way to achieve something is national unity, unity of political forces. Representing different political parties, at the same time, Lithuania also realized a few years ago how important it is to unite in order to fight for democracy while having mutual understanding and agreement about strategic goals when it comes to the country. The ruling party and the opposition need to continue to act with mutual understanding about the fundamentals because the opposition is also an important part of democracy, the MEP said.
