Iran's vice president for strategic affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has submitted his resignation after the impeachment of economy and finance minister Abdolnaser Hemmati, sources said, Fars reports.

Zarif submitted his resignation after the Iranian parliament session announced Hemmati's impeachment, which led to his resignation.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has also yet to accept Zarif's resignation.

This is the second time that Zarif has submitted his resignation as Iran's vice president. He first submitted the resignation last August, saying he was unhappy with his job, but the Iranian president convinced him to return to his duties.
