A demonstration to save the life of former Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) state minister Ruben Vardanyan and in defense of the other Armenians being held captive in Azerbaijan is being staged in front of the Yerevan office of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Human rights activists, public figures, and ordinary citizens are participating in this protest.

Larisa Alaverdyan, the first Human Rights Defender of Armenia and Executive Director of the "Foundation Against the Violation of Law" NGO detailed that they are here because unprecedented actions are taking place in Azerbaijan.

"Not only specific people are being tried, but also international law is being tried [in Azerbaijan]. All norms of international humanitarian law are not only being violated, but Azerbaijan is simply opposing international law in general. We have come here because the current authorities of Armenia are not only not taking proper steps, but all the statements it has made directly serve the genocidal Turkish-Azerbaijani policy towards Armenians," said Alaverdyan, in particular.
