UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, in his report presented at the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, pointed out the problem of all persons arbitrarily detained in Azerbaijan, including Armenians—the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations reports.
“They must be released immediately, and their rights to a fair trial must be fully respected,” Türk said.
He also said he was closely following the ongoing peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that they would “lead to the discovery of truth, healing, and reconciliation,” to which the commissioner is ready to lend his support.
