Past daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: According to Past newspaper’s information, the state departments—the National Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all other ministries and other authorities that have any functions with the Russian Federation—with joint commissions, working groups or any other format—are instructed to intensify contacts with Russian colleagues to the maximum.

The relevant structures were instructed to actively participate in all the sessions in their line, to launch business trips and meetings; in a word, to normalize relations [with Russia].

It is difficult to say what the reason for such an instruction is. However, there are rumors behind the scenes in the [Armenian] government that the authorities have most likely realized that sharp turns on the foreign policy front will not lead to anything good [for Armenia], to put it mildly—both politically and, even more so, economically.
