Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a “productive” conversation with the leader of Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, which won the Bundestag elections, support for Ukraine.

“Had a productive conversation with the leader of the CDU party, which won the Bundestag elections, Friedrich Merz.

We agreed on our positions and I appreciate his support,” Zelensky wrote in social network X. 

He noted that Ukraine appreciates Germany's efforts to restore European security and protect the lives of people in our country.

“We remember that Germany is a leader in the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine and plays a crucial role in ensuring our financial stability.

Agreed with Friedrich Merz on further cooperation and contacts,” - added the President of Ukraine.

Today it became known that US President Donald Trump ordered to suspend military aid to Ukraine.

“The President has made it clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to also be committed to this goal. We are suspending and reviewing our assistance to make sure it is contributing to a solution,” the statement said, quoted by AFP.

According to Bloomberg and Fox News, the pause will last until Trump is satisfied that Ukraine's leadership is demonstrating a desire for peace.

“This is not a final cutoff of aid, it's a pause,” Fox News quoted a Trump administration official as saying.
According to Bloomberg, the decision will affect all U.S. military equipment not delivered to Ukraine, including weapons in transit or awaiting transit through Poland.
