Political consultations were held Tuesday in Beijing between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and China—and headed by Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan and Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Liu Bin.
During the consultations, the parties emphasized the strong bilateral political dialogue and discussed steps to further deepening it, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
China reiterated its support for Armenia’s political independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Armenia, in turn, reaffirmed its support for the "One China" principle.
A wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda were touched upon, including political, trade and economic, agricultural, transport connectivity, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. The positive dynamics in the development of Armenia-China relations were commended.
The parties underscored the importance of the Crossroads of Peace and the Belt and Road initiatives, highlighting the implementation of infrastructure projects.
An exchange of views was held also on the cooperation between Armenia and China within international organizations. The Chinese side outlined its priorities for the upcoming chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Both parties discussed the prospects for further collaboration between Armenia and China within the SCO framework.
