The Armenian government approved at its Cabinet meeting Thursday the draft amendment to the treaty of the CIS member states on interstate search of persons.

This treaty was ratified on December 10, 2010 in Moscow, and the protocol on its amendments was signed on October 8, 2024. The protocol is submitted with a reservation of ratification.

The treaty provides for the sending of requests electronically, but clear mechanisms for interaction are not determined. The planned amendments will enable the respective authorities of the CIS member states to use an electronic copy of a document within the framework of information interaction.

According to the government's decision, the Constitutional Court of Armenia shall decide on the compliance of the obligations stipulated in this international treaty with the constitution of Armenia. In the event of a decision to deem the aforesaid draft as compliant with the constitution off Armenia, it will be submitted to the National Assembly in accordance with the established procedure.
