If Armenia does not pay its contribution to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) budget by the end of 2025, this organization's other member states "may consider various scenarios," but they will probably not expel anyone, Russian deputy foreign minister Aleksandr Pankin told RIA Novosti.

"By January 1 [of 2026], a situation may arise where the [other CSTO member] countries may consider various scenarios in case of non-payment for two years," Pankin said.

He noted that there have already been cases when other CSTO member countries have been in debt for technical, financial, and other reasons.

In February 2024, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia had frozen its participation in the CSTO. In addition, the country has stopped contributing to this organization's budget and sending representatives to CSTO events and exercises.
