Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian president, believes that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not do anything wrong during his quarrel with US President Donald Trump at the White House recently, and Ukraine should not apologize to the US for this conflict. Podolyak said this in an interview with Le Point, UNIAN reports.

“He [Zelenskyy] was absolutely right both in form and content, trying to convey to our American partners the main idea that nothing will be done without putting pressure on Russia. It is impossible to achieve positive results by counting on voluntary concessions from Moscow. Peaceful negotiations are impossible without coercion from Russia... Therefore, we [i.e. Ukraine] will not apologize for the alleged mistake that did not happen,” said the adviser to the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian president.

Also, Mykhailo Podolyak stressed that Trump remains a partner of Ukraine—despite all the heated discussions of recent days. Podolyak noted that Ukraine should continue to maintain constructive relations with the US and resolve differences within the framework of bilateral relations.

Mykhailo Podolyak added that the meeting at the White House was “useful in some respects.”

“By highlighting our differences, we can clarify our views. Unlike us, the United States continues to believe that Russia is a country with which it can negotiate. Having revealed our differences, I hope that then we can reach a consensus on a number of points. We cannot negotiate with Russia; it does not want peace, it does not want a globalized world where the United States dominates," noted the adviser to the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian president.
