Turkey remains committed to its objective of full membership in the European Union (EU), said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to him, Ankara expects the EU to take a strategic and far-sighted stance and to intensify negotiations on Turkey's accession to the community, local media report.

"Joint planning of all steps related to European security with Turkey will be in line with our shared interests," Erdogan stressed.

He noted that Ankara sees no reason not to include Turkey in the EU's programs for the purchase of defense products and the reconstruction of Ukraine.

"It is important for Turkey to be included in mechanisms such as the European Peace Facility, which aims to restore and revive Ukraine," the Turkish president said.

According to him, in order to achieve a just, lasting, and dignified peace between Russia and Ukraine, "a solid diplomatic foundation is needed, on the basis of which the opposing sides will sit at the negotiating table."
