The first night in Latakia was very tense; on the night of March 7, clashes took place in the center of the city, and sounds of shooting were heard. Nairi Karapetyan, a journalist of Gandzasar newspaper, published in Syria, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Shooting and clashes in the Armenian-populated neighborhood where the Armenian church and school are located did not stop until morning. Now, the situation is calm, but there is no light and water, and the internet is very weak. The church and school will remain closed until the situation calms down. Armenians are not leaving their homes,” Karapetyan noted.
