Several hundred Syrians, mostly women, children and the elderly, have taken refuge from the violence on the territory of the Russian airbase Hmeimim in Latakia. This was reported by Reuters, citing footage from the scene and two sources.

Meanwhile, a number of social network users have published there photos of women and children with captions, from which it follows that these are refugees from among Christians, Druze and Alawites, who were given the opportunity by Russia to take refuge at the Hmeimim airbase, DW reported.

It was not possible to identify these users or verify the authenticity of the photos at the time of publication.
