The foreign minister of the Netherlands disregarded the question about imposing sanctions against the Azerbaijani president.

At a joint press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday, Caspar Veldkamp was asked whether the time had come to impose sanctions against the regime of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev.

Veldkamp calmly sidestepped the question, saying instead that Europe sees glimmers of hope in the normalization of Armenia's relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey.

According to Dutch FM, promoting peace is important, and the EU would also like to make its contribution.

It is a good time to take a step forward, Veldkamp said, calling on Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey to normalize their relations for the sake of the region and the prosperity of Europe as well.
