The Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan has hinted at the imminent meeting between the representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future.

At a joint press conference Wednesday with his visiting Dutch counterpart, Mirzoyan responded to the question about the possibility of agreeing on the provisions of the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan and withdrawing one another’s lawsuits against each other from international courts, said that this and a number of other matters were being discussed in the text of the treaty. If they are agreed, they will be applied once the treaty is signed and enters into force, he added.

According to Mirzoyan, the exclusion of the presence of third forces on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the withdrawal of the aforesaid lawsuits were being discussed, and if the treaty is signed, these points, like others, are subject to mandatory implementation.

Also, the Armenian FM informed that in the near future the two parties will have the opportunity to discuss the approaches and all matters related to the signing and ratification of the peace treaty. However, Mirzoyan did not specify at what level this meeting is planned.

“The approaches correspond to the challenges facing the Republic of Armenia and the peace agenda, our readiness to establish peace with Azerbaijan, and the interests of the Republic of Armenia,” the Armenian FM assured.
