Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after meeting with visiting Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Ankara, announced that the Turkish authorities were ready to participate in holding peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

"Turkey's position on this war has been very clear from day one. We do not want more bloodshed, and we want both neighbors to end the war with a fair peace," Erdogan wrote on X.

"If recent events enable Russia and Ukraine to return to the negotiating table, we [i.e. Turkey] are ready to make any contribution to establishing a fair and lasting peace, including the arranging of negotiations," added the Turkish president.
