Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko arrived in the Kremlin on Thursday afternoon for talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, Interfax reports.

Lukashenko is in Moscow on an official visit—his first foreign trip since being re-elected as president in January. This fact testifies to the special nature of the relations between the two countries, the Kremlin noted.

Putin and Lukashenko are expected to discuss, in particular, the implementation of agreements on the deepening of integration and strengthening of the shared defense space of their Union State, the materials of the Russian-Belarusian high-level talks say.

Also, the two presidents will exchange views on the key matters on the international agenda.

After their talks, Putin and Lukashenko are expected to sign a number of important interstate documents; intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents will also be signed, the aforesaid materials state.
