The conditions put forward by Russia for agreeing to a ceasefire in Ukraine show that Moscow does not really want peace, European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Monday, the BBC reported.

“The conditions that they have presented show that they don't really want peace because they present as conditions all the ultimate goals that they want to achieve from war,” Kallas told reporters in Brussels (quoted by Reuters).

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said in an interview with Izvestia that Moscow demands “iron-clad guarantees” of Ukraine's non-admission to NATO. “Part of these guarantees should be Ukraine's neutral status, the refusal of NATO countries to accept it as a member of the alliance. Actually, this very provision was fixed in the drafts of the above agreements,” the Russian diplomat said.
