US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin began phone talks today, Tuesday, that Washington hopes will persuade Moscow to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine and move toward a permanent end to the three-year-old conflict, Reuters reported.

A White House spokesman said the two leaders have been on the phone since 2 p.m. GMT.

“The call is going well and is still ongoing,” White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino wrote on social media X.
