Armenia will have a defense attaché under its permanent mission to the United Nations (UN). The Ministry of Defense has submitted the respective draft decision to the Armenian government.

Accordingly, Armenia’s defense attaché to the UN will be called upon to deepen cooperation with the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) of the UN Secretariat, which can contribute to increasing the capacity of the Armenian peacekeeping armed forces and deepening Armenia’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions.

Also, Armenia’s defense attaché to the UN will have the opportunity to present the country's military and politico-military priorities and approaches in the context of maintaining international peace and security, the aforesaid draft added.

In addition, Armenia’s defense attaché to the UN may carry out monitoring in accordance with the procedure established by the norms.

Furthermore, Armenia’s defense attaché to the UN will coordinate the country’s military and politico-military cooperation with international organization, strengthen the level of bilateral cooperation, and submit proposals for the prospective development of cooperation.
