Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA) speaker Alen Simonyan met with the speaker of the NA of France, Yael Braun-Pivet, within the framework of the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the Council of Europe during his working visit to Strasbourg, France.

Alen Simonyan in a talk with his counterpart expressed gratitude for the continuous support of France to Armenia, noting that the efforts of France to establish peace in Armenia’s region are also highly appreciated, the NA of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Yael Braun-Pivet in her turn reaffirmed the unconditional support of France aimed at the aspirations of Armenia for peace and steps towards democratic reforms.

The interlocutors touched also upon Armenian-French relations, interparliamentary cooperation, and regional developments. The RA NA speaker reaffirmed the resolute position of the Armenian side on signing the recently agreed peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as drawing the attention of his French counterpart to the problem of Armenians being held in Azerbaijan.
